Balancing Security & User Experience in Verification

Four various options for verification steps

I talked with users to learn about their ideal number of verification steps, aiming to balance between security and user experience.

I created four wireframes for different verification steps and discussed them with users. Here's what I found:

  • Users are concerned about sharing ID info due to privacy worries.

  • They also questioned the need for both mobile and email verification, noting that email accounts can be easily created without verification.

Some users mentioned that option 4, which is 2-step mobile verification upon sign-up and an additional ID check later for certain features like the market, could also work. For now, I've simplified the process to a single-step mobile verification, as it was the most popular choice. However, option 4 remains a possibility in the future, depending on development constraints.
