About This Project

Making healthcare easy and accessible with MyNurse

Nkomor is a UK-based healthcare startup providing a complete platform for medical services across Africa. To expand its reach and improve healthcare accessibility, Nkomor is launching MyNurse in 2025. MyNurse is a hybrid telehealth service that offers virtual nurse consultations and in-person care at partner pharmacies. Designed to be accessible and trustworthy, MyNurse will serve everyone, including underserved communities, in the UK and Africa in the future.

Challenges

Lack of appointment flexibility causes frustration

While reviewing the design concepts, I noticed there was no clear way for users to track, reschedule, or cancel their appointments after booking. This limitation had the potential to become a significant frustration point, leaving users without control over their bookings. Without the flexibility to manage their appointments, the experience risked feeling rigid, inconvenient, and ultimately unsatisfying.

Iteration and collaboration made the difference

I started this project from almost scratch and quickly learned the power of teamwork and iteration. Regular feedback and discussions helped us test ideas, understand what worked (and what didn’t), and keep improving. The platform continues to evolve, but this experience reinforced that great design comes from collaboration and continuous refinement.

What matters most in Healthcare design

Working on MyNurse showed me the unique challenges of healthcare design, like keeping data private, making the platform accessible, and ensuring clear communication. Balancing these elements helped create a secure, inclusive, and user-friendly experience. This reinforced the importance of thoughtful, user-centered design in healthcare.
